Delicate Question: What Is the Ideal Penis Size According to Women’s Preferences?

In the era of dating sites of any kind, people are no longer ashamed of their sexuality and openly talk about it. In 2013, scientists led by Brian Motz of the University of Ottawa in Canada published an entertaining study in the journal of sexual medicine. Twenty desperate men have taken a large number of photographs of their penises from all possible angles. The pictures were sent to hundreds of women, who rated what they saw on a scale of attractiveness. Women told scientists what criteria make them define a penis as beautiful or not very attractive.

The first place in the list of criteria was taken by the “general impression of the penis,” which, admittedly, is a rather vague definition. The second criterion sounded like “the condition of the skin,” in third place, women noted the shape of the glans penis, the condition of the scrotum, the condition of the pubic hair (we are serious!) And somewhere at the very end of the list – the length and circumference.

This encouraging study found that as long as the penis looks like a penis, everything is fine, and the size and circumference are generally the last things. In fact, this is not entirely true: in this study, women still subconsciously called larger penises more attractive. But how many guys have a 7 inch one? What are the real numbers?

Want to know more? Let’s take a closer look at women’s preferences in penis size in numbers and facts.

What Are the Numbers?

Scientists from New Mexico and the University of California were not satisfied with such vague data of penis size percentage. They wanted to know all the details. After finding 75 female volunteers from 18 to 65, they 3D-printed 33 different penis models and asked the participants to rank them from most attractive to least attractive.

Are you ready to see the result? 16 centimeters of an erect organ. This is the golden ratio of the perfect penis. So you may start browsing how to measure your penile size correctly.

At the same time, the result of another study is similar. It showed that the ideal penis size for women is 16 cm. Interestingly, this size was called the best for long-term relationships, but for one-night relationships, women called the number 16.5 cm.

By the way, it’s funny that depending on the situation (sex for one night, marital sex, etc.), women chose different sizes of penis. When it came to casual sex, women called a little higher figure – something about 16.3 cm. But for a long-term relationship, the desired size was exactly 16 cm in length and 12 cm in circumference.

Out of curiosity, we have asked sex shop consultants what the most popular vibrator and dildo sizes are. In general, the answer was in line with the research results: “Approximately 15 cm to 18 cm is the most popular length.”

And What Does All This Mean?

How comforting is this result? It depends on your point of view because men delude themselves. In different countries, by the way, in different ways. The Australians are exaggerating the most. The women claimed that the “average size” of their men’s penises was 15 cm, while the men cited the figure as 18 cm; that is, the difference between the two statements was about 17%. Americans are not different from Australians: men also estimate their size at 18.4 cm, while women oppose that it is only 16.9 cm. The real “average size,” as in Australia, is only 13 cm.

By the way, British women also rated the penises of their lovers at 16.9 cm. In this sense, British men turned out to be more modest than their English-speaking neighbors and modestly claimed that they were provided with only 17.5 cm. How long is it really? 14 cm.

A team of scientists from the UK has collected data about penis size by region from doctors on 15,521 men from around the world. As a result, it turned out that the average size of an erect penis is 13.12 cm, and in a calm state – 9.16 cm. But in general, different studies give slightly different figures: from 12.9 cm to 14.2 cm.

Summing Up

In fact, these are all prejudices in your head. 85% of women are comfortable with their partner’s penis size, according to a “does size matter” survey published in the British Journal of Urology. But men turned out to be much less confident in their abilities as 45% of men said that they were embarrassed by the small size.
